I’m such a sucker for the “secret cinnamon roll” who is gruff/mean to everyone except the FMC and this book definitely delivers on that trope. There’s a lot of socio-cultural world building that is fascinating to read and makes some tropes like a love triangle feel fresh and different which is really neat. There’s also involvement about blood and bonding that’s similar to but still different from vampire blood bonds a la PNR.” 5-stars

I didn’t want to put this book down, the plot moved at a good clip, and I loved Direl and Riley, and the friends that are met along the way. There’s a lot going on politically speaking, as with all of Sky Robert’s SFR books, interconnecting webs of intrigue are laced throughout and we are left with a happy couple, but it is only a matter of time before their loose threads start to unravel and they will need to confront the mess that will come for them.” 5-stars
